Instrument traded time settings for the charts

I'm physically located outside of any traded markets time zones.
I'm having an issue trying to set up my charts to reflect the actual time the individual instrument I'm trading is subject to. I trade different markets during a daily session and can become confusing what time it is at the instruments trading location. I want my charts to reflect the current time for the instrument I'm trading, and not my physical time I'm in.
I can't figure out why my charts aren't populating the correct time as such instead they are showing my time, and I have to try and constantly keep track of the time in say New York or Chicago for the various instruments. It's causing too many issues, and I want to get this resolved. In the chart trader settings, under Time Frame; Trading Hours; I select: <use instrument settings>; yet I continue to get the wrong result. Can anyone guide me to correct this issue? I haven't found a source anywhere that address this issue.

    Hello BayouTiger,

    Thank you for the message.

If you mainly trade the US markets, it would probably be easiest to switch your NinjaTrader Platform to the Central US Time Zone and then go from there.
    • Many of the markets are going to be in Central Time so that would cover many of the instruments.

From there, you could either get used to seeing the other non-us markets with the Time Zone shown as default.

Or, you could try making a Copy of that Instrument's Default Trading Hours Template > Give it a unique name > Then, change the Time Zone that is assigned on the Trading Hours Template
    • This is going to take some figuring out along with trial and error on your part as it would be different for instruments in different time zones.
    • By default, the Trading Hours will be in the Time Zone of where that Exchange is located.
      • But, if you adjust the time zone there > Click OK > Then right-click on the chart and select "Reload all historical data" it will shift the chart.
      • You would want to figure out the Times for the various instrument you trade and make the desired changes as desired.

"By default, the Trading Hours will be in the Time Zone of where that Exchange is located." Thats what I want. However, It's not doing that. by way of example. I pull up a chart for the NQ which operates on NYC time. My chart incorrectly is displaying the time as my current time zone which isn't correct. I'm two hours behind NYC currently. That's precisely my issue. I want my NYC charts (instrument traded on NYC time) to show NYC time. and I want my Chicago charts (instruments traded on Chicago time) to show Chicago time. None are doing that. Where do I correct this when by default it's supposed to be doing what I actually want? As I stated in my OP; I have my charts set to use the instrument time: but they aren't doing that. Where is the issue?

        Hello BayouTiger,

        Thank you for the update.

I meant that Every Trading Hours Template has its own "Time Zone" setting and you have to figure out what to change it to for it to show at your desired time on your charts.
        • What you are requesting is NOT a common thing users ask for so there is not an easy or default way to do it.

The information I provided in my prior post is complex and I would expect it to be difficult even for an intermediate user on the NinjaTrader platform.

If you want to take the time to figure out how each of your Trading Hours Templates need to be modified to show the Data Series in, then you are welcome to figure that out.
        • However, it is beyond the scope of NinjaTrader support to provide multiple custom trading hours templates for a user.

Again, you could either get used to seeing the other non-us markets with the Time Zone shown as default.

Please click here for more information on copying and editing a Trading Hours Template.
        • If you want to read through the guide above and try performing the steps you are welcome too, otherwise, we can provide the steps to undo all of your changes so the platform goes back to working as default.

Otherwise, you are welcome to submit this as a feature request for a future version of the platform:
