    Ninja trader crashing on VPS

Hi, I've had this problem before and now it's happened to me again when I was trying to import the backup file from my PC. I tried the doing what I was told before by going in and renaming the NinjaTrader.sqlite to NinjaTrader OLD.sqlite but that didn't work either. Why do you think this always happens to me when I try to import a backup file? should I not try to import any backup files to my VPS anymore?

    Thanks,

    Hello Alaina19 ,

    Thank you for reaching out.

It may be that other components of the backupfile, besides the Database, are either damaged or are too large to process.

Have you tried minimizing other compenents when making the Backup like:

If you are still getting issues importing a Backup File that does not seem to be too large, you can also always manually "import" your back up file info.

(If it is a backup file created using the tool within NT8
    • Right-click and make a copy of the backup file.
    • Select the file ->Right click the file -> Rename
    • Change the name of the file from .nt8bk to .zip > Click OK to change the format.
      • (If you can't see the .nt8bk, at the top of the window, expand "View" > On the right, check the box next to "Show extension". Then you can make the changes)
    • Right-click and extract the files
You now have access to the files saved in that backup.

You can now manually copy whatever old files you want over to your new NinjaTrader 8 folder.

Thank you. I think it was probably too large. I tried to export a smaller version and open it but NT just crashes before it can even open up. Is there something I can do to fix that? At this point, I don't mind putting my charts together from scratch as long as I can get it open and working properly.

        Hello Alaina19 ,

        Thank you for your message.

If your platform is crashing, you may want to perforn a new "clean" installation.

You may follow the steps listed below to completely uninstall and reinstall NinjaTrader.
        • Close all running applications.
        • Navigate to your computer's Documents folder > Right-click on the 'NinjaTrader 8' folder > Rename the folder to 'NinjaTrader 8 OLD'. DO NOT delete this folder.
        • Uninstall NinjaTrader within Windows Control Panel.
        • Navigate to C:\ > Program Files > Delete the 'NinjaTrader 8' folder if it exists
        • Reboot your PC
        • Once these steps are completed, please log in to your NinjaTrader Account Dashboard and download and install the latest version of the NinjaTrader Desktop App.
Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.
