Importing workspaces from NT8 to NTWeb

    Hi,

My mentor has provided me with a set of .xml files to setup templates for workspaces, charts etc. to be placed in the NT8 file system directly. They are using NT8 on a PC.

Since I work on a mac, I want to use Ninja web.

Is there any way that I can import, or convert and import those files? Is there a way that my mentor can export those from their NT8 differently so they can be imported to Ninja web?

    Thanks!

    Hello nkarni,

Thank you very much for your post, and welcome to the NinjaTrader forums.

It would not be possible to use templates created for NinjaTrader Desktop in NinjaTrader Web, as these two platforms are not directly compatible.

To access these templates, you would have to install NinjaTrader Desktop.

While we do not officially support running NinjaTrader Desktop on a Mac, many clients have run It on Mac hardware using Windows virtualization programs.

Below are specific installation instructions for running Windows on your Mac via Parallels and VMWare Fusion, two of the more common Windows virtualization programs.

Please note that Windows is sold separately from Parallels and VMWare.

For additional setup assistance or questions regarding Parallels or VMWare, please contact their support teams directly.

Mac Installation - Configuring NinjaTrader for Parallels

When installing NinjaTrader on a Mac using Parallels users will need to ensure that the following steps have been taken prior to the installation of NinjaTrader.
    1. Start Parallels and select your virtual machine
    2. Press the "Configure" button on the top
    3. Under "Options", select "Sharing"
    4. Uncheck "Share Mac" under "Share Mac User Folders with Windows"
    5. Press "OK" and start the virtual machine

Mac Installation - Configuring NinjaTrader for VMWare Fusion:

When configuring NinjaTrader on a Mac running VMWare, users will need to ensure that the following steps have been taken prior to the installation of NinjaTrader.
    1. Start VMWare and select your virtual machine
    2. Press the "Settings" button on the bottom
    3. Under "System Settings", select "Sharing"
    4. Uncheck "Documents" from the "Mirrored Folders" list
    5. Close the "Settings" window and start the virtual machine
Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any further questions about this!

      Thanks Manfred,
I think that I will go through creating those workspaces myself and use the web version rather than Parallels. Assuming that the web version is just as capable as the desktop version?

I am not a NT representative. I am just a client. NT Web is very limited.
I use NT on Linux inside KVM. Works fast. MAC Parallels is very good. Follow the steps you will not regret

          Hi amfpaulo,
I tried the parallels solution and found that the Divvy app that was recommended in order to organise several charts on one screen, was not working properly.
When you say the web app is is limited - can you explain in what way it is is limited? Would I not be able to see a chart, add some lines to it, place a futures trade?
          Any help appreciated

What I am saying is that is Limited in comparison with NT Desktop and Also other Web Platforms like Trading View. Yes it has basic tools.
For me the big Advantage of NT Desktop are the Chart Trade Tools. Drawing tools and indicators are not so necessary outside the basic lines and EMA/MA's
