Segregate trade data by session in the Trade Performance window

I emailed support and the representative sent me the general overview video on the Trade Performance tab and a link to the NT8 user guide without answering my question. How can I get the trades broken down by SESSION as opposed to day of the week? I want to see globex trades that occurred between the hours of 5pm CST till 11:59pm CST on August 15th to be combined with the trade performance data from the trades that occurred from 12am CST to 3:59 pm CST which is the end of the session? I want to segregate by session the same way the Account tab does it (by session) so I don't understand why that's not doable in Trade Performance. Or if it is, how do I do it?

As a side note, I wish customer service representatives were trained to answer direct questions customers have AND then include additional resources for clarification. As a customer, it's extremely frustrating that support rarely answers a question directly. Often they'll send you a bunch of links, they won't bother to answer your question and then expect you to figure it out. The kicker is, 90% of the time the information provided doesn't even answer the question directly in the first place! I'm all for "teaching a man how to fish" but I'm not paying to use a platform to be given homework assignments. Emailing into customer service shouldn't always require multiple emails back and forth because the customer service rep refuses to directly answer a question. I've used NT for years and this remains my chief complaint with every department inside NinjaTrader. It wastes everyones time and it wastes company resources. Answer the question AND provide resources. I would really like to see NinjaTrader improve their training protocols so that customers aren't left frustrated, feeling like they can't ever get real help and at the end of the day, it's not for business.

    Hello Ymcapital,

Thank you very much for your post.

I can only apologize you've received an unsatisfactory response from our Client Services Team. Could you let me know the case number in this case?

Regarding your question; The Trade Performance window is only able to filter based on the calendar day. It is not possible to specifically select a timeframe or the session itself at this time.

I have submitted this as a feature request to our development team and will follow up as soon as I hear back.

Please also don't hesitate to let me know, should you have any further questions in the meantime!

      Hi Manfred,

Thanks for the response. I'm not upset at any one representative. Unfortunately, it's more the rule than the exception that I get those kinds of responses from representatives. That's why I assume it's something to do with training/protocol and less about customer service reps not wanting to help or skirt the question. It does get frustrating though. This is a great example where instead of finding the right answer for me, the rep led me on a wild goose chase, I had to watch the video, read through the NT user guide, all the links, only to find out hours later that being able to see your PnL statistics based on sessions isn't possible in the Trade Performance tab. Clients shouldn't have to fish for answers and 80% of the time, that's usually what I have to do. So thanks for answering my question directly.

I appreciate you adding that as a feature request. It seems like if the Accounts tab tracks PnL based on session, it should be a fairly easy option to add in.

      My case number is #03997871.

      Thanks for your help.

The ability to view my stats by session is important.
Please add my vote to the feature request.
Please provide the feature request number.

I just had this issue pop up again and came to search for a solution.

+1 for the feature request though I need it on desktop. Itd be good if the strategy analyzer and/or other things that used just dates could have the option to have a starting/ending time.

The first thing.. the MAIN THING for this is that Trade Performance currently segregates data by date, instead of by actual session. It seems very natural to me that trade data would be segregated by actual CME sessions and not by calendar date.
                • CME sessions generally start at 5pm CT and end at 4pm CT the next day.
                • NT8 segregates trade data by calendar date (midnight to midnight) and is therefore ALWAYS out of sync with the CME sessions.
                • Almost everyone I know in the industry goes with the CME session times as the start/stop times for calculating their PnL for the day.
                • Currently, if I want to do my own calculations of daily PnL, I have to manually use Trade Performance and manually look at each accounts with a manual cutoff at the time of the CME close.
It seems quite ridiculous to me that NT8 uses actual date at midnight instead of the CME session.
The default should be to calculate according to the daily ETH open at 5pm CT and the daily RTH close at 4pm CT. This should have been the behavior when the product was created... well, that is if the developers were knowledgeable about market sessions... seems like this should have been written into the original requirements.

I would suggest to you that you escalate this change request. In my mind, this is not a "feature request", it "Bug Fix"... the fact that NT8 does not calculate PnL like all of the rest of the industry does is in fact a "defect". Asking you to fix this is asking you to fix a DEFECT. ... this is not a "Gee can you add this feature for us" kind of thing.

The data in Trade Performance is actually currently incorrect because it does not calculate based on the CME sessions.

Please escalate this as a Bug/ Defect Fix.
