Reason for not allowing Rithmic / CQG connections?

I purchased a NT lifetime license after the grandfather date that allows some to connect Rithmic and CQG feeds through the platform. What was the reason for removing support for these connections in the first place? Customers should be able to use whatever feed/broker they choose to after paying for the product. This obviously wasn't a technical decision because those connections are still in the product, just hidden from customers who purchased after the cut off date.

I suspect this was a decision made when NT was migrating from a platform to a broker as an effort to suppress competition.
