Impressive Results on Heiken Ashi Chart: Are They Reliable?

I used the strategy performance feature in NinjaTrader to evaluate my strategy, and the results on the Heiken Ashi 1-minute chart were quite impressive. I'm curious if the smoother representation of price action with Heiken Ashi is contributing to more favorable signals, or if there could be factors skewing the performance outcomes. Are these results likely to reflect realistic market conditions, or should I be cautious when interpreting them? Any insights on the reliability of these results would be greatly appreciated!

If this is a backtest and you are using the Heiken Ashi bars to process the strategy, those results will not be similar to real-time. Heiken Ashi bars are averaged data, which is not the same as the actual data that would fill the orders in real-time. You can run the strategy on playback to see how it actually does in real-time. To accurately use Heiken Ashi in a backtest, you would need to avoid using the bars type and download the Heiken Ashi indicator from the user app share instead. The indicator can be used to get Heiken Ashi data for conditions, and then you would use a standard bar type for the strategy's primary so orders are filled using normal prices.
