Initial margin deposit required for Intraday trading?

When trading the NQ e-mini futures, the intraday margin is $1,000, but the initial margin says $23,100. Which is it that I have to have as a balance in the account? Can I trade one contract with a minimum balance of $1000+ or does it have to be a minimum of $23k? And I realize it's more practical to have at least a $10k balance per contract you want to trade at one time.

Intraday margins apply during the hours of 5:00pm CT (Session open) until 3:45pm CT (the next day).

Initial margins apply during the market close hours of 3:45pm CT (Session close) until 5:00pm CT (the same day).

You only need to have this amount in your account if you plan to hold positions overnight.
