    Trade 2 accounts?

    Hello,
Too many times over the years I've wanted to be able to have a long and short position open at the same time.
Maybe I'm in a long trade but want to scalp short at the same time.
How can I do that in NT8?
Is it 2 accounts? Or 2 licenses or something else?
What are my options for having this capability?
    Thank you, JM

    Hello,

You cannot be long and short in the same account at the same time as this would make you flat an instrument. You can however have orders specific to a long or short 'virtual' position. For instance you can sell a contract with a stop and target attached for a short position, and then buy a contract with its own stop/target attached, and each stop/target pair will be their own OCO order pair. However your account will still be flat.

      Ryan S,
Let's say I'm long ES on a daily chart but I'd still like to be able to trade shorts intraday. Would what you told me allow for that?
In the above scenario, if AAPL releases pre-market earnings that are bad, I may very well want to go short intraday due to that.
      Is that permissible?

What about a situation where I have 2 different strategies running for ES? One trips a long signal and the other trips a short.
I realize my account would be net flat but could I enter both trades in both strategies?

I can't do this in the same account you say. Ok, so how would I get a 2nd account? I can use the same license key?
Can I have both accounts running in the same instance of NT8? How does a 'sub-account' function?

Could I open a chart with the 1st Acct (long trades) and open another chart with 2nd Acct (short trades)?
Run different ATM strategies on both or even manually trade differently in both.

      Thank you, JM

Hello, I would recommending directing this type of inquiry towards your broker as it affects your tax implications and trading eligibility on your account. It is possible to do it technically with the platform, but please consult your broker for the implications of trading in this way.
