    How to simplify handling Time

I travel a lot and so my local computer time changes often. In order to simplify writing and maintaining a strategy, what steps can I take to understand or even 'unify' all elements related to Time?

Some questions I have regarding trading the ES during extended trading hours:

    1. What methods and properties use the Exchange, session, or local (computer's) time?

    2. There are 3 places I can change the timezone:
    - Tools > Trading hours > CME US Index Futures ETH > Timezone.
    - Tools > Options > General > Timezone.
    - My local computer's time zone.
Would it make things simpler just to have all these set to US Central Time and deal with my computer being 'off' while I travel?

    Thanks!

    Are you using Windows 10?

      Yes. Windows 10 and NT8 (8.0.6.1).

Windows 10 actually allows you to have multiple clocks, possibly for that very reason.

So take the road which involves the least adjustment of data: Keep your computer on one primary time frame that you will use for running NT. If you need to see local time, just install the relevant clock.

Just my $0.02, as, for me, the fewer steps that I need to take on my trading platform, the fewer the mistakes that I am liable to make.

          Hello Hillborne,

NinjaTrader will use your local PC's time so the best approach would be to shut down NinjaTrader, right click on the windows clock>adjust date and time> and change your time zone to your current.

Please let us know if you need further assistance.
