Download Historical Data

I have recently started using Strategy Analyzer and I'd like to confirm my procedure for downloading historical data.

Really all I want to make sure of is I select Connections then Live. Then I proceed to the data download dialog.
I see a lot of articles referring to Rhythmc, Kinetic, etc (which I don't have) and I'm not entirely sure what connecting to "Live" means - but I saw it in a video.

Please let me know if you see anything wrong with my procedure or have any other recommendation.

To download historical data you just need to be connected to your data provider. It sounds like you currently have your connection configure with the name of Live so you would connect to that before you can download data in charts or other tools.

I may have lost the Configure button on the Connections menu.
Is there a way to restore this menu?

The configure button is only available in multi provider mode, those are the connections that are created by default using your account. If you enable multi provider mode you will have to reconfigure those connections if you wanted to use them.

Ok, enabling multi-provider mode gets me the Configure option, however, "Live" doesn't appear there.




Stepping back a second, based on your comment, I'm guessing I setup "Live" quite awhile ago since I don't specifically remember it.
So I was just trying to see its configuration.

When you first install NinjaTrader and log in it will auto configure the connections associated with your account. Multi provider mode is only used if you are using other brokers than NinjaTrader brokerage. When you enable multi provider mode that clears the connections so you would have to re configure the live and sim connections if you wanted to use those. Those are the NinjaTrader connection.
