Script to place two orders at the same time

Hi folks,
I am looking for sample strategy/scripts that does pair trading. For instance, once I enter 10 /ES long order, the system will automatically place 10 /RTY short order on behalf of me, and vice versa.
It is something built-in for platform like ThinkOrSwim, called OTO ( order trigger other ) order. Just wonder if we have it here as well in Ninjatrader.

We don't have an existing script that does this, however, you may be able to achieve this with custom coding.

Can you clarify, do you want to script to automatically place these orders based on manual orders you've placed? For example, you manually enter place a trade on one instrument, and the script will automatically also place an order on another instrument.

If so, strategies cannot keep track of any manually placed orders. However, you could monitor the Account Orders collection to keep track of orders placed to the account.

Then you could get the Instrument and Quantity for each order from the collection.

Another option would be to create your own custom order buttons which would place orders on two different instruments at the same time. We do have a sample script which demonstrates creating your own custom order buttons.

i would like explore your 2nd option : create custom order buttons which would place orders on two different instruments at the same time. Does it need writing code or there is drop-down menu to guide me through the button generation process? In my case, how do I create a button that is to place a long /MES order and short /M2K order at once?

This script demonstrates adding buttons to a chart to place orders.

The script submits orders directly to the account using CreateOrder() and Submit(). CreateOrder() will allow you to specify the Instrument you want to submit the order to.

On button click, you could add logic to submit orders to both instruments at the same time.

hi Gaby,
when I write script using CreateOrder, it must manually put a quantity value for this order. My question is whether I can just take on an input value for order quantity from Chart Trader's "Order qty"? Is there sample code in that regard?
