Gathering data for strategies

I'm interested to know what people are using to gather data to justify their NT strategies?

For example, let's say I want to gather data on the HOD and what time it occurs, and then put all the data together for the x X years. What are people using to get that kind of info?

I'm assuming also I could do this with NT, create a script for that and have it print text in the output window that will paste into a spreadsheet/csv.

To clarify by HOD do you mean high of the day?

Most type of analysis can be done in the platform using indicators. Depending on what you are trying to do you could approach that in different ways and either print or write the data to file if you plan to use it externally.
