IBKR and NinjaTrader Position Sync Issues

Hello,

This issue has been frustrating me for quite some time.

Whenever I try to sync my NinjaTrader strategy positions with my IBKR account positions, it automatically closes all my IBKR positions! I don't want it to do that. Instead, I want NinjaTrader to recognize the existing positions in IBKR and continue managing them as they are.

The problem happens every time IBKR reconnects to IB Gateway every 24 hours, which causes a desync. The only workaround I've found is to close all current positions on IBKR and re-enter them immediately so that everything will be in-Sync with NT, but that ends up wasting commissions every time.

Is there a way to sync these correctly? Otherwise, what seemed like a promising broker connection has turned out to be quite disappointing.

I am using NT8 and IB Gateway 10.19 adn hav an active Broker Connection subscription with NT.

Hello emyeele,

With IB they have a maintenance time so that disconnect cannot be avoided. You can adjust the disconnect settings to try and accommodate that but the disconnect will still happen.

Please follow the steps below to set up handling for the IB restart and test to see if you see the same behavior occur.

1. In NinjaTrader, go to Tools > Options >Strategies tab
2. Set ‘On connections loss' > 'Handling' to ‘Keep Running’
3. Set ‘Disconnect delay seconds’ to ‘999’.
4. Go into TWS>File>Global Configuration>Lock and Exit> Set auto-restart time.
