StopMarket Orders

Clarification Question on StopMarket orders: If I'm using 5 min bars and I submit a stopmarket order, will it work like a limit order (intra bar)? I.e. if the price touches the stop markert price 2 minutes into the 5 minute bar, will it execute then?

Hello samish18,

The bars type only matters for fills in historical testing, in realtime the order would work in the live market and fill once the market meets the orders prices. For historical testing a stop market order will fill based on the bar series it was submitted to, when using 5 minute bars it will evaluate the fill once per each 5 minute bar.
