Running strat on multiple instruments and ensuring sufficient buying power

Hi, I want to run strategies and multiple tickers, in my case currently working with equities. I am wondering how I can make sure, that the strategy only enters a position in case I have sufficient buying power (which I would like to predefine). I am using NT in conjunction with TWS Workstation of Interactive Brokers.

    Hello philmg,

To make sure the account has sufficient values you can run a single strategy instance, that would ensure the values before starting. If you are using multiple strategies they cannot sync or know the values of the other strategies before starting.

Thanks, but is there a way, that a strategy checks IB account values as a condition? I could not find anything like it in Strategy Builder.

        Hello philmg,

No the strategy would need to run by its self so you can monitor the account buying power. Each strategy instance will take away from that buying power so if you need to monitor that you would need to run 1 instance so you can physically see how much buying power is being taken by the strategy.
