Has anyone ever created a button or switch that appears on the chart that can be clicked on to turn a strategy on and off?

There is no documented way to programmatically enable a strategy, so there would not be a supported way to enable a strategy from a button. You could potentially disable a strategy from a button by having the button call CloseStrategy() when it is clicked:

You could create a button called 'autotrade on/off' instead. Whenever your setup comes, check this flag. If it's off, do nothing. You strategy can continue to do other things such as marking up the chart, but it just doesn't place any trade. Useful when you wanna sit out when FED speaks, but don't want to turn off your strategy totally.
