Multiple strategies on different instruments with same account

    Hi Folks,

I'm having a hard time finding this combination of a question. I'm looking to run two strategies on the same account. They WILL NOT be trading the same instrument, but they may be running a trade at the same time (regardless of direction). I believe such a setup is possible but wanted to confirm. Does anyone have a similar setup or do you only run 1 strategy per account?

    TIA

    Mike

    Welcome to the forums!

As long as they are different instruments, you will be fine.

A 'position' is defined on per instrument basis, eg, you can have
3 positions in 3 different instruments (all in the same account)
and NinjaTrader doesn't care, they are all separate and unique.

That is, you don't increase your current ES position by trading
the MES, trades in the MES are a new position -- sure the ES
and MES are related, but they are still completely different
instruments -- so they are completely separate positions,
meaning the positions (ie, orders affecting those positions)
    never interfere with each other.

    For ex,
You can be long in the ES, and short in the MES, or vice
versa, inside the same account, and NT will not care. They
are completely independent positions -- they can be handled
manually or via a strategy, it doesn't matter. Why? Because,
they are entirely unique and different instruments -- so the
    positions are (by definition) different.

    -=o=-

Just be aware of any account-based limitations, such as
total max contracts if you're trading inside a prop account.

Typically, 'total max contracts' is a thing enforced across
    all positions in that account.

        Hello Mike,

        Thanks for your post.

Multiple NinjaScript strategy could be run on the same account as long as they are run on a different instrument.

bltdavid has provided some great information on this topic that you could review.
