Looking for advice for a hot key setup

Hello, I’m not a master at creating these things but I’ll get it figured out one way or another hopefully! My trades are quick on the 1minute time frame. As soon as the candle opens I’ll know if I am getting into that trade or not. Not before the candle opens and hopefully no more than a couple seconds after that candle opens.

I want to enter a limit order on the open price of the candle. Alternatively if the candle quickly pulls back to a better price than the open of the candle price I’d like to get in there.

So more simply put.

- I want to use hot key to enter my order

- I want a limit price = to candle open price. OR market order if the price happens to be better than candle open price by the time I hit the hot key

is this possible if so how? Thanks!

What you have described goes beyond the existing Order Entry hot key functionality:

That means it would require custom scripting. There are some links to examples of scripts that detect key presses in the following post:

If you are willing to consider a button rather than a hot key, you could create a button on a chart that places a limit order on the current candle's open when pressed. You could also add logic that checks if the last price happens to be better than the open when the key is pressed and, if so, submit a market order instead. Either way, if your script is not a Strategy and is an indicator or an add-on script, you would need to utilize the Account class to subscribe to the desired account events and place orders based on the key presses/button press. Hi Emily, I have another question. Is it possible to set this script up in a way where I can trade multiple instruments at once creating a hot key function specific to a specified instrument?

example: I have ES and NQ charts open; ctrl + E places a buy order on ES and ctrl + N places a buy order on NQ

Yes, this should be possible. If you plan to use the Account class, you would need to use CreateOrder() to create orders prior to submitting them:

One of the CreateOrder() parameters is 'Instrument' for the instrument you would like to buy/sell. You should be able to set up your hotkey logic to create an order for a designated instrument, based on which keys were pressed, and submit orders for various instruments:
