    NinjaScript programmer's IDE?

I'm new to NinjaScript and I've done some medium level programming in cold fusion javascript, php.
I'm a beginner in R for statistics. So, I'm not an expert nor a novice.
I can see that the NinjaScript editor will not support the kind of work I want to do.

I'm looking for a tool that will allow me to
collapse and expand sections of code
press several layers of undo-redo keys
see color - coded matched pairs of brackets, parentheses,
still have access to the NinjaScript explorer pane,

I'm a hobbyist and I'll spend less than 10 hours a week at this, so I'm not interested in a full featured, subscription based visual studio.
Can VS Code work for me?
I'm open to any kind of advice from those who have travelled this path before me.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Berry Trader,

    Thank you for your post.

This thread will certainly remain open in case any forum members would like to chime in with their experience. You may edit NinjaScript files in any text editor, and it is preferable to leave a NinjaScript Editor window open at the same time so that any time you save changes to the file, an automatic compile will be triggered in NinjaTrader. VS Code could likely work very similarly to Visual Studio in terms of editing scripts. The following tip should be kept in mind when using any third party program as a text editor:
"Tip: You can also use Visual Studio as editor for your NinjaScript files - for that open the project as in step 2 above and then use Visual Studio for editing and once done save the file (don't run or build the solution then in Visual Studio), preferably with the NinjaScript editor opened still at the same time, so changes would be auto compiled in then."

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.

I'll try this combo of having the NinjsScript editor open while editing the same file in VS code. It sounds like it's just what I am looking for.
      Thanks, Emily.
