I'm trying to build a strategy that works within the limits of my live trading account. Testing this is difficult because the backtest account has 100k which performs overly liberal. Is there a way to modify this account to reflect reality?

Unfortunately, backtests will not use the account cash value at all and will not have limits.
You would need to code logic into the script that stops trading after the loss exceeds the amount.
This example provides some sample code of how to calculate the PnL.
