Reversal Only Strategy

Hi there,

I'm quite new to NT Strategies and am just trying to backtest a simple EMA crossover. However, I would just like the strategy to reverse position (never TP). What's the best logic to do this?

Hello quicksandatl,

I would suggest looking at the SampleMACrossover strategy, that uses an SMA to reverse and could be changed to use an EMA if you wanted to use that instead. That does not use any targets. A similar task can be done using the strategy builder, you would just enter into the opposite direction when you wanted to reverse, that will close the position and enter into the opposite direction.

if you are long 1 contract and reverse your position it will just sell 2 contracts. So, you would be taking profit on that original contract and then just going short on the second contract. vice versa. Are you just trying to make sure you are always in the trade no matter the direction?

Duh! I didn't even realize this. I think my not being flat upon first entry was throwing off my first test.
