Error on importing a compiled assembly:

Hello, I exported a strategy I developed as compiled assembly. When testing if the zip file could be imported in both the same and a different computer, I got the attached error message.

How can I fix this issue?

    Thanks,

Possibly you are trying to import a compiled assembly but you already have the source code for the same indicators/strategies on your computer, or you have a DIFFERENT assembly already imported that has some of the same things in it. Either way, remove the other one (source or compiled assembly) and if that is the problem you would then be able to import this one if it is no longer duplicative.

      Hi Bruce, Thanks for replying.

Before importing the complied assembly I did remove the source code. Usually, when importing source code in *.cs format, the importing process notifies every indicator, drawing object, etc. that is already in the receiving end. The compiled assembly includes indicators and other objects inside the Ninjarader 8 folder. Doesn't the compiled assembly importing process also check for duplicates and ask the user if it replaces or not those that it finds?

No. If there are any duplicates, you get the message you posted above, and it refuses to import. It does not tell you which ones are duplicated.

          Hi Bruce. Thanks again.

Most of the duplicate files the complied assembly encounters are of the @"NinjaIndicator" type, included with the Ninjatrader installation. So, how do you zip compiled assemblies to avoid this error?

If the duplicates are of NinjaTrader inbuilt indicators there are a few things that might have happened. You might have copied the source files to more than one place e.g. you have ATR.cs and Copy of ATR.cs also. Or, your installation might have become corrupted. You should probably try running a repair installation by downloading the installer from account.ninjatrader.com and installing over the top of your existing installation. It should give you the option to repair your installation.

I repaired the Ninja installation as you suggest, but the error persists.

                Hello bobperez,

                Thanks for your post.

Please share a copy of the script with me if possible so that I may test importing it on my end and investigate this matter further.

I look forward to assisting further.

                    Hello bobperez,

                    Thanks for your note.

I see that you have written in to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com with a copy of your script and stated that you were able to successfully import it after removing the script from your NinjaTrader platform before importing it so that there are no duplicate file names. Also, by removing any custom scripts that are included in the export file.

If this is not the case and the ticket (03843983) mentioned was not opened by you, please let me know.
