    sample request

    Hi,
Please add a sample strategy using unique entries, showing the correct method of adding to an existing position. For instance, we enter a long position, and then if a certain percentage move in our favor is achieved, we add another contract, and a third contract is added if another milestone is achieved. Then we exit these unique entries at different points as well.
    thanks,
    David

    Hello trader3000a,

There is an existing sample that shows how to scale in a strategy, that uses unique entries and exits to scale out of a position. The concept of adding or removing part of a position is just to use unique signal names with the entries. You can then tie specific exits to individual parts of a position by specifying the entries signal name with the exit as the FromEntrySignal.

This sample enters two entries at the same time but you could split that into separate conditions so one comes later than the other if you wanted.

      Hi Jesse,
I've tried using the sample you suggest as a guide but it doesn't work. I'm hoping someone can create an example as I've suggested, as it would help a lot of users with a common method of trading.
      thanks,
      David

        Hello trader3000a,

What specifically is not working with the existing sample when you try it? I can see this working on my end when I run it. Two entries are placed and then the exits happen to scale out of the position.

The sample that you originally asked for would be the same concept shown in the linked sample, if you want to add additional contracts to an existing position you need to submit another entry order each time you want to add to that position. If you want to exit part of a position you need to specify the entry orders signal name with your exit so only that part is exited.

The sample that I linked to is intentionally simple so that you can learn about using signal names. If you want to make a strategy that has multiple entry conditions you can do that but understanding the core concept of using signal names would be needed before you start making that kind of strategy.

          Hi Jesse,
Thanks, the sample works fine, and I'm familiar with unique entry use. I'll try to form a better question and get back to you
