Cant debug with Visual Studio 2022

    Hello guys,

Im trying to debug my strategy code with Visual Studio 2022, but I get this message soon as I attached Ninjatrader process.

An unhandled exception of type 'System.ExecutionEngineException' occurred in Unknown Module.

Anyone have experienced the same issue?

    Thank you!

    Hello facuevasm,

    Thanks for your post.

Please answer the questions below so I may accurately assist.
    • What version of NinjaTrader are you using? Please provide the entire version number. This can be found under Help -> About (Example: 8.0.?.?)
    • When the error message occurs, what is the exact step you are taking?
    • Did you follow all of the steps on the Visual Studio Debugging help guide page?
Also, provide a brief description explaining the exact steps taken to reproduce the behavior so that I may try to reproduce the behavior and look into this further.

Thanks in advance; I look forward to assisting you further.

        Hello Felipe,

        Thanks for your note.

This error message could be caused by a third-party addon installed on your NinjaTrader platform.

Please set up a clean environment using the steps below and then retest to see if the error message persists.

Creating a clean environment can be done by following the steps below:
        1. Close NinjaTrader 8, and rename the "NinjaTrader 8" folder in My Documents to something like: "NinjaTrader 8 OLD"
        2. Uninstall NinjaTrader from the Windows Control Panel and reinstall using the installer from account.ninjatrader.com
        3. Add the required indicators and test the template.
If you ever need to switch back to your original platform, you may do so by closing NinjaTrader and swapping the platform folder names.

For example, Close NinjaTrader and rename the new "NinjaTrader 8" folder to "NinjaTrader 8 NEW" and the "NinjaTrader 8 OLD" folder to "NinjaTrader 8." Then restart the platform. Simply put: NinjaTrader 8 will always load the "NinjaTrader 8" folder in My Documents.

See this help guide documentation about debugging with Visual Studio: https://ninjatrader.com/support/help..._debugging.htm

And, see this forum thread for more information about this error: https://forum.ninjatrader.com/forum/...1045744

I am having an issue debugging as well. A debugger is detected and the instance has a crash when I attach to NinjaTrader.

            Hello,

This behavior can occur if you are using third-party protected assemblies that were exported with a version of NinjaTrader prior to 8.1.2.0 using Agile 6.6.0.35.

This is discussed in this forum post:

If you are using any third-party assemblies that could have been exported with a version of NT prior to 8.1.2.0 using Agile 6.6.0.35, to be able to use the Visual Studio debugger, you would need to get a copy of the third-party assemblies from the vendors exported using the current version of NinjaTrader and Agile 6.9.1.2.

The Development team has informed us that this is a limitation of the upgrade to the Roslyn compiler and there are no workarounds that can be implemented.

            We apologize for any inconvenience.
