    Relative Volume, Volatility, and Stops

    Hi folks,

In the Strategy Builder, how can I evaluate for the currently (so it updates every bar whatever time frame I happen to be on) relative volume on the day compared to say the last 30 days daily bars?

    and

In the Strategy Builder, also, how can I evaluate for the current relative volatility on the day currently (so it updates every bar whatever time frame I happen to be on) compared to say the last 30 days daily bars?

    Lastly...

In the Strategy Builder, how can I do one stop move from my initial stop? Say I have a 100 tick initial stop order, and if the market goes, say 150 ticks in my direction, I would like the stop to move to breakeven plus 50 ticks or something of that nature?

On these, I would like to stay within the Strategy Builder to solve the above or find any kind of workaround that would effectively do close to what I am trying to do.

    Hello Greg,

    Thank you for your inquiry.

NinjaTrader does not come with a relative volume indicator by default, although this indicator is publicly available on our NinjaTrader Ecosystem website:You may be able to import the indicator and then use it within the Strategy Builder to get the data you are looking for. Here is a basic guideline of how to import NinjaScript add-ons in NinjaTrader 8:

Note — To import NinjaScripts you will need the original .zip file.

    To Import:
    1. Download the NinjaScripts to your desktop, keep them in the compressed .zip file.
    2. From the Control Center window select the menu Tools > Import > NinjaScript Add-on...
    3. Select the downloaded .zip file
    4. NinjaTrader will then confirm if the import has been successful.

Critical - Specifically for some NinjaScripts, it will prompt that you are running newer versions of @SMA, @EMA, etc. and ask if you want to replace, press 'No'

Once installed, you may add the indicator to a chart by:
    • Right-click your chart > Indicators... > Select the Indicator from the 'Available' list on the left > Add > OK

Here is a short video demonstration of the import process:

In the Strategy Builder, also, how can I evaluate for the current relative volatility on the day currently (so it updates every bar whatever time frame I happen to be on) compared to say the last 30 days daily bars?
I am not aware of an indicator that calculates relative volatility. You may be able to find this type of indicator in the user app share (link below), otherwise, you could contact a professional NinjaScript consultant to create this type of add-on for you. If this option interests you, let me know and I would be glad to get you additional information.

My colleague has created a breakeven example in the Strategy Builder that may be downloaded from the following forum post:

The example may be imported by going to Control Center > Tools > Import > NinjaScript Add-on. Select the downloaded BreakEvenBuilderExample_NT8.zip file. Once the import is complete, you may view the example within the Strategy Builder in order to understand how it is set up so that you are able to implement the same idea into your own strategy.

Thank you for your patience. Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.
