Strategy parameters and ATMStrategyCreate()

Hi, Can you explain what the following means?
"Strategy set up parameters such as EntriesPerDirection, EntryHandling, IsExitOnSessionCloseStrategy do not apply when calling the AtmStrategyCreate() method"
What does 'do not apply' actually mean?
How else can i set a limit to the amount of entries or exit at the close with an ATMStrategy?

Hello sjmuk1,

Those are all properties that would apply to a managed approach strategy. ATM strategies can be considered an external strategy. A quick example is your NinjaScript strategy started an external ATM strategy to control the targets. The NinjaScript strategy does not track what the ATM is doing because its external so the normal strategy properties don't apply to that situation.

The properties you mentioned apply to a normal managed approach strategy like something you would make using the strategy builder. Those control the rules of how the strategy operates. Those rules apply to managed approach orders like EnterLong().

Hi Jesse, So if i can't set exitonsessionclose as it won't work, can you suggest how i might be able to close all positions that are open on an instrument after a certain time when using an ATMStrategy (e.g. 3.55pm)? Also, how might i be able to limit the number of entries from a particular strategy to only 1 or 2 at a time whilst using an ATMstrategy to manage the trade?

You would have to make a time condition and then Close the ATM at that time if it was not done working.

AtmStrategyClose can be used to close working orders or open positions.

To limit the number of entries you would need to make conditions that happen infrequently. If you are using a condition that happens frequently you would have to add other items like your own bool variables to control how often that the condition can become true.
