Stratgy Analyzer bombs when starting BackTest

Hello,

I have run the SA successfully many times in the past. Now however as soon as I click on "Run" the entire NT8 program crashes.

SystemNullReferenceException it says.

What could be the cause?

It happens with any strategy I try to backtest (including the example SMA crossover strategy).

Hello Skechers,

If you see this happen with the SampleMACrossover strategy that would indicate a problem with the data or platform which may require a re install.

The error means something is null however without knowing what part of the code is causing that it would be impossible to suggest a solution.

Hello Jesse,

Fresh install (all NinjaTrader folders also deleted). Ran backtest with Sample MA Strategy, works.

Restored backup, ran backtest, bombed with Unhandled Exception.

Any pointers?

Hello Skechers,

Unfortunately the error provides no detail that we can use. If you restored a backup you may have restored a problem which is at fault for the error. I see third part items loading in the log you attached, it could be related to one of those items. I would suggest to try exporting your custom strategy and then do a clean install. From there test your custom strategy and make sure that works without any of the other scripts/data you have accumulated.
