    Empty space between moving averages

    Hi,

during consolidation phases there are many crossovers between moving averages, and even more problematic for me, the space is very compressed between moving averages (in blue).

When we're out of consolidation, the moving averages start to "breath" a little bit (green) and this is better for my strategy.

Is there a way to detect / analyze the compressed (blue) areas in ninjascript? I have been trying to compare percentages of prices between the MA, but this is not really great and highly subjective with the price of the instrument.

Let me know if you have any idea! Thanks and have a great day.

    Hello RT001,

To find the area of the space between the averages you would have to subtract the smaller average from the larger to get a overall difference in price. That would let you know how much space is between the averages to use as a condition. That would be the only way to know if the bands are close or note besides using a percentage however that would still require finding a difference so it may be more simple to just use a price difference for the given instrument.
