Removal of draw objects and trades on replay error - why?

Hello,

Why is it that when a strategy is being run in Playback Connection / Reply mode, when an error occurs, the trades and drawing objects (placed by the strategy) are immediately removed? I get why to disable the strategy, but I don't understand why that should cause all the drawing objects and completed trades to be removed from the chart. Just because a strategy is disable doesn't negate the fact that trades were taken and drawing objects where placed on a chart. What is odd is that the Playback Connection - Playback101 account doesn't reset when the error occurs. So, why reset the chart?

If a strategy is removed from the chart, then, yes, it makes sense to remove the trades and drawing objects.

Earlier today, I set my strategy to run on just over 5 weeks of trade data (MES 03-22 tick data, not level 2). Once set to run, I left my office. I come back and see that an error occurred at the end of week 4. However, all the trades and the trade info (Draw.Text) up to that point are gone. Four hours wasted.

Thank you for your post.

Unfortunately this would be expected. A run time error will cause a strategy to be terminated. According to the tips on this page of our help guide, on terminating a strategy, all strategy generated trade markers or draw objects will be removed from the chart:

Hi Kate,

Thank you for the information. Fair enough, that action is documented. But, my question still remains - why remove the trades and drawing objects? That makes working on strategies more difficult than it should be.

Please put in a request to update this behavior so that executed trades and drawings are not removed upon disabling of the strategy - only when the strategy is removed or the strategy is adjusted or playback is reset/adjusted.

My understanding, at least regarding showing the trades, is that once the strategy is terminated the chart can no longer access its trade collection so when the chart renders again it wouldn't be able to know where the prior trades were rendered.
