NT keeps deleting my source code!

This just started a few days ago. I have created strategies using the builder. I unlock the code. I then proceed to edit my code, compile and run through the analyzer many times throughout the day. When I reboot in the morning and try to continue working on the strategy, I click on it in the NS explorer (it does not have the lock icon on it), it immediately opens the strategy builder for it! If I "view code", it rewrites the basic builder strategy over my code!!

I've started cutting and pasting my code to Notepad ++ so I can save it, archive and version it. Why does NT not allow you to archive versions to a folder? I generally love the editor but this really needs to be fixed.

    Hello Chippy,

If you are seeing something unexpected happening surrounding saving the strategy which requires restating the platform or pc I would suggest to try and make a dummy strategy to test with and locate the specific steps you had used. We would also need to clarify if that happens on a platform restart or with a full PC restart. If the files are being reverted on a PC restart that could be due to something on the PC like sync software or a problem with windows.

If you can report the specific steps you used we could test that and if confirmed make a bug report.

I think I got it. For some reason, the wizard xml at the bottom didn't delete. I swear, I unlocked the code, otherwise how could I have edited it? It saved to the strategies log file in the explorer so I was able to retrieve it from there but it has the wizard settings as well. When I copied and pasted I was pasting the wizard settings at the same time. It seems to be resolved now but I still don't know why it happened in the first place.

        Hello Chippy,

Editing the code would require the XML to be removed so I would suggest to keep testing the general steps where you last had observed that.

From your description it sounds like the file got reverted to a previous state. If the unlock happened that should remove the XML to allow you to edit it in the editor. If you made changes and then compiled that should save those changes. You would have had to verify the contents in the file and if the XML came back but kept your latest manual edits or if it lost the manual edits and reverted to the builder code. Depending on what specifically happened that could point to some outside factor or some kind of unexpected bug.

Another item to check would be the analyzer log, if you used the script in the analyzer it will appear in the log. If that is now missing that points to some kind of reverting/data save failure. You can right click in the analyzer and select show log to view the historical tests.
