Use of SetTrailStop

Hello galsermil,
A trailing stop does not have to be based on the highest price achieved, a trailing stop is a target which is actively trailing behind a target price by X at Y frequency of updates. The SetTrailStop uses a CalculationMode to determine the offset from the price, based on that calculation the target is moved if the price exceeds the price limit. The target is moved at the frequency of either OnBarUpdate when using OnBarClose or it will move each tick when using OnEachTick.

Hi Jesse,
As we are on the subject could you please explain the meaning and potential application of entering certain String
in the Entry Signal OPtion in the Trailing STop. I do understand that it is possible to put ticks, pips, prices etc in Values Field
but I could not figure out what to do with Entry Signal option. Looks like it gives an option to link to Indicators , may be even PL.
But when I tried to experiment with it strategy was not cooperating.
On related topic once I am in the position with the strategy that uses Trailing Stop can I link this Trailing stop to certain indicator ?
I was trying to do that with Stop Loss and despite repeatedly linking Stop Loss to indicator Stop Loss Level was returning to its original position.
So looks like Stop Loss is unmovable. Question is what happens with Trailing Stpop and whether it is possible to adjust it with strategy being active.
Cheers

Hello kazbek966,
The FromEntrySignal is meant to be the name of the entry which the target applies to.
To modify a target you would have to avoid using the stops and targets page and instead submit the order in a set. You can find a sample of modifying an order here: https://ninjatrader.com/support/foru...rategy-builderLast edited by NinjaTrader_Jesse; 04-01-2022, 07:25 AM.

Hi Jesse,
Unfortunately provided link returned following message.
"Invalid Page URL. If this is an error and the page should exist, please contact the system administrator and tell them how you got this message."
May be address is incorrect.
P.S: Indeed there were two brackets in the link. REmoving them opened relevant forum post.
Cheers

Hello galsermil,
This is a forum which anyone can post in the thread, this is an open thread where other users can see what you post and can also post their own questions as well. If you don't want to see replies for other users questions who post in the same thread you would need to avoid using the forum and instead use the email support. For some reason, your replies are going to me rather than kazbek966
