Strat Development Supertrend Automated trading

I am looking to use the supertrend indicator to develop an automated trading system. i am new to this so starting from scratch.
which compiler applications are used to make the files for the .cs and .zip
which softwares should i use for making ninja trader 8 strategies?

would i be better off trying to modify an existing entry and exit system or starting from scratch.
i am looking to use this for futures on a simulated account but excited to start the project.

Hello KM0990,

NinjaTrader compiles scripts internally. Right-click the NinjaScript Editor, click Compile. Saving a script from another editor (without compiling) with a NinjaScript Editor window open will also auto-trigger a compile event.

NinjaScript is C#.

Learning how to make NinjaScripts by following the training videos and examining the reference samples is a great way to start.

The Strategy Builder can be used to create simple NinjaScript strategies. This is a powerful tool and the best way to get introduced to it would be to follow along our Strategy Builder 301 tutorial which shows you how the tool can be used and shows how to create a simple strategy that can be tested.

I recommend starting here, and then to start making simple strategies just to test out one or two conditions so you can be sure that you have the conditions set up appropriately. It is important to start small and to test as you go to ensure that the logic is working before you scale up and add more complexity to the strategy.
