Long of Short but on Different Charts of the Same Instrument

Let's say I'm long on the ES and I'm in a 3-hour trade catching a trend. If I see an opportunity to short a pullback can I do that as long as I'm on another chart, even though that other chart is the same instrument (ES).

I get that you can not go short and long at the same time on the same chart. However, I ask because I have a trend following algorithm and a mean reversion algorithm and I'd like to use both if possible. Can I just run them on separate ES charts?

    Thanks

I don't believe so, but what you could do is go short on the micro version of whatever you want. So if you're long on 1 ES contract, you can go short 10 MES contracts

      Hi coopgrafik,
Separate charts don't help you to sail around the cliffs. Separate accounts are recommended, if you want to trade the same instrument in both directions.
