EMA update

Hi,

I am trying to develop a strategy based on EMA crossovers on a Range chart. When do new EMA values get calculated? For instance if I am calculating a entry based on price change are EMA values only calculated when the bar is closed?

Thank you for your reply.

That would depend on the Calculation setting of the strategy calling the EMA indicators. An indicator hosted by a strategy will inherit the strategy Calculate setting. If set to OnBarClose, the EMAs will be calculated on the close of a bar, if using OnPriceChange they would be calculated each time the price changes, or if using OnEachTick they will be calculated with each incoming tick.
