    User Defined Variables

Hi, im trying to add a higher high to my strategy with the swing indicator

The way I'm thinking is when current bar (close[0]) swing value does not equal close[1]'s swing value, you take close[1]'s swing value and add it to a variable.

Then when a new swing value is formed, you compare it to the value of the variable. That would tell you if its a higher high or lower high.

Now I just need to know how to add it to my strategy. Can you point me to a guide?

    Thanks!

    Hello Ousher,

    Thanks for your post.

Please note that the swing value would not change until the "strength" bars have passed so comparing the current bar value [0] to the previous bar value[1] would not work, you would actually need to look at the current bar value[0] to the strength bar value +1. For example with a strength setting of 5, you would look at [0] compared to [6].

The strategy builder would be limited in looking at the current swing so you would have to use the bars ago approach above.

If you are coding in Ninjascript then you have another option which is to use the "occurrence" of the swing. You could pull the current value of the swing and the previous occurrence (no matter how many bars ago (assuming it was within the look back period specified) reference: https://ninjatrader.com/support/help...nt8/?swing.htm
