why use lock when asking for Account details

Hi

I had a question regarding the use of "lock" for getting Account Info, for instance in the examples given at

Suppose I am running two strategies - one on ES, and the other on CL, and both strategies are coded to access the account positions at end of every hour (hourly bars). Will only 1 strategy access the account info at a given time?

Hi uday12, thanks for your post.

The account object needs to be locked in State.SetDefaults only to obtain a handle to it. If thread A (ES strategy) has a lock on an Account object and thread B (CL strategy) tried to lock it, thread B will wait until its unlocked before accessing the account.
