Series synchronisation

I am not too sure what the synchronisation of a custom series to the primary or secondary series in a strategy actually means, or does.

I am coding a strategy that relies on a custom series of highs / lows of an indicator applied to a secondary series.

As the custom series is only made of highs / lows, it obviously has less bars than the series to which the indicator is applied to, so my question is: do I still have to sync the highs / lows custom series to the series to which the indicator is applied, or not?

Finally what does the sync actually do and what would happen if it is not done when it should be?

We have this example on synchronizing a data series to a secondary data series:

It is just to make sure that one bar object gets created in the custom series for every bar that the second series has.

No matter what, in the custom series a bar slot will be created for every bar on the chart. You could fill in the non-used slots with 0 or with the last known value.
