Strategy for trading Forex market

Hello,

Is it possible to trade Forex from an automatic strategy? I could not find any post in this forum regarding Forex, could you please point me to some post or documentation on what I have to do different for Forex, I'm trying to backtest an strategy connected to FXCM data feed but EnterLong and EnterShort doesn't seem to be working. I need to know also if it is possible to trade mini and micro lots and how to specify them for my entries.

Hi Victor, thanks for your note.

A forex strategy doesn't really need anything intrinsically different than any other strategy. A common mistake is setting the quantity incorrectly and instead of placing a mini, micro, or whole lot, users will submit just 1 contract, and that would be so minuscule that the PnL would just show 0 all the time. As an example, take the SampleMACrossover Strategy, set "Set Order Quantity" to "Default Quantity" and set the value to 10000 for a mini lot. This can also be programmed into the strategy e.g. EnterLong(10000);
