Strategy input values

Hi,

Is there a way to change the values for default inputs/ parameters set in the strategy builder AFTER we have optimized the values. It says that since the input is in use, we cant change the defaults Is there a shortcut to get this set up without have to redo/ recreate the conditions.

Thanks for your post.

No, there is no way to change the defaults of the inputs after they have been used in a condition unless you first remove it from the condition(s). The reason for this is to prevent the strategy builder from creating an error which would then prevent further use of the strategy builder until the error has been cleared.

An alternative to consider is the use of strategy templates. When you go to apply the strategy, for example to the chart, you have the opportunity to set each parameter as you wish, once set you can then click "template" at the bottom right and if you select "Default" as the name, every time there after that you use the strategy it will apply those settings effectively making your strategy defaults as you wish them to be. You can also create one or more templates using other names if you have more than 1 set of defaults you want to use. Please note that if you make any changes to the strategy itself (via the strategy builder), the template(s) would no longer function and would need to be re-done.
