Hello,
I'm getting set up to learn Ninjascript coding (strat and indicators) and looked at the documentation but seems the tutorials are only in NT7 doc.
Can they still be followed in NT8? What to think of them?

Hello Duval,

The references and tips still exist for NT8 along with much more educational resources however a lot has changed so the NT7 examples wont work for NT8. These resources now have their own location in the help guide under the NinjaScript -> Educational Resources section:

You can find the same reference samples and tips in this section, they have all been migrated to NT8 to demonstrate the correct NT8 topics.

Hello Duval,

Yes, the reference samples are working scripts for specific concepts. This is generally better than the older tutorials as this format allows for you to see more of what is happening with the script than a description could provide. NT7 had some general scripting tutorials, however these rely on you to accurately do exactly what the guide says, and in case of problems there is really no other information in those guides. The reference samples are known to work and demonstrate the specific concept described so these are suggested for learning.

For learning the general use of scripts or the GUI in NT8, we also have some very high level videos covering basic use of the strategy builder, NinjaScript editor and using scripts in the platform at the following public links:

These are good for getting a handle on the newer NinjaScript features. For the most part NinjaScript still operates the same, and is used the same as NT7. There have been a lot of naming changes and structure changes between 7 and 8 code, so additionally using the Code Breaking Changes guide to compare 7 code to 8 code can help: https://ninjatrader.com/support/help...ng_changes.htm

My best suggestion on learning NT8's NinjaScript would be to start slow and understand that there are existing examples for just about every concept included with the platform. You can view the code of nearly all the stock indicators and included strategies which can help to understand specific concepts that you may see in existing scripts. The forum is also a great resource, if you are unsure how do something specific or have questions on concepts the support staff and users are happy to assist.

One other small tip is to use the strategy builder to generate code you are unsure how to make yourself. You can generate conditions in the builder and then click View Code to understand how to make that.
