plotting equity curve

Is there a way to view the equity curve on an account or on historical backtests?

Thanks for your inquiry.

Strategies can use OnAccountItemUpdate() to get updates on AccountItems which would include the account's CashValue.

An indicator will have to subscribe to AccountItemUpdate events for this information to be available. Then the data can be written to a variable and a plot can be updated in OnBarUpdate().

Backtesting in the Strategy Analyzer will not use an account and OnAccountItemUpdate will not update historically.
