accessing "current value" of bars

Without calculating on each tick, is there a way for our strategies to access the current value of a bar in progress?

Calculating on each tick is overkill, I just need to occasionally know what the value of a secondary data series is without waiting for the secondary bar to close.

Thank you for the post.

The most simple way to access tick by tick information while NOT using OnEachTick would be to use OnMarketData and store the Last price to a variable. Each time you receive a Tick you could update the variable, once OnBarUpdate is called whatever the last tick to set the variable would be used. There would not necessarily be a way to access the Building bar otherwise.
