Using 2 Data Sets/Time Ranges

(Newbie) (wizard view) (NT8)

Background: When creating a new strategy using minute/8 for the default data series (which is needed for my indicator to function properly).

If I create it with a basic 3 rule system:
1. if ask (default data set) is above indicator price, and time (default data set) after input parameter start time, buy
2. if ask (default data set) is below indicator price, sell
3. if time (default data set) is after x input parameter time cutoff and pos.qty > 0, sell

Everything works fine up to this point.

4, Add another secondary data set for DJIA average, based on minute/1

Still works fine

Finally, add just a simple log rule if time (DJIA/1 data set) is > input parameter start and < input parameter end, log a txt message.

Nothing from Rule 1 fires.

change the log rule to use default data set, and works fine again.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong, can only the default data set be used for time cals?

Hello GrnGold,

Do you see any errors in your log tab when enabling the strategy?

If you’d like to send a copy of the strategy you’re running, I can take a look and see if anything jumps out.

To export a NinjaScript from NinjaTrader 8 do the following:
From the Control Center window select Tools -> Export -> NinjaScript...
Click Add>Select the indicator>OK>Export.
Then attach that file you saved; under My Docs>NT8>Bin>Custom>Select the downloaded .zip file.
