are the volume numbers next to the ask & bid values the actual volume?

on the chart trader panel, are the volume numbers next to the ask & bid values the actual volume or are they on some other format [e.g.] thousands of future contracts rather than the pure number as displayed ?

The volume number next to the bid/ask quotes will show you the number of pending limit orders waiting to be filled at these price levels, also known as the market depth. This is a pure number; it has not been reduced or reformatted.
