NT7 and NT8

Is it possible to open NT7 and NT8 simultaneously on the same machine? Will the same live account show up on both? Can trades be placed on either in case we can log in on the same live account?

Thanks for posting.

NinjaTrader 7 and NinjaTrader 8 can be installed on the same PC and can even run at the same time. However, many data providers do not allow for multiple instances of the same account connections to be used simultaneously, which means you may only be able to connect on one version at a time.

Got it. I wanted to try to run a sim account on a strategy and a live account to try it out. Will that work or technically I will need another data feed to run the sim account? SO I will run my live account on one machine and test a strategy on a VPS using a sim account. I guess it will not me log in to both at the same time?

Thanks for your follow up.

Unfortunately, most account connections (and regular data feeds) would only allow for one instance of the connection to be used at a time. This means that even if you are trading separate accounts, the data feed would still not be able to connect on both PC's at the same time. A separate data feed would need to be used in this case.
