    adding currency pairs

What is the correct procedure for adding currency pairs? All I am after is the ability to chart end of day, week, etc. No intraday.

When I add through instrument list and try to bring them up I get a blank chart, and my output window will print multiple times "IndexOutOfRangeException".

    Thank you.

    Hello imalil,

    Thanks for posting.

Who are you connected to when you see this behavior?

I use CQG. The popular pairs work, such as AUDUSD, CADUSD, etc. But I want to add and look at different ones.

Again, I don't want intraday. I want end of day.

        Hello imalil,

CQQ only supports futures and index data.

You may use the Kinetick End of Day free feed that is preconfigured in NinjaTrader. This connection provides free end of day data for stocks, futures and forex.

Alternatively you may look into one of our other supported data feed providers. I have included a link to the Data by Provider section of the NinjaTrader 8 help guide below. Here you will see a list of all the NinjaTrader supported connectivity providers as well as the historical and real-time data provided by each:

Thanks for all that. But I want someone to answer the question I asked:

What is the correct procedure for adding currency pairs to NT8 so I can chart end of day prices using Kinetick End of Day free feed?

Drew asked who I'm connected to when I see the problem, so I told him my data feed. But I'm always connected to Kinetick End of Day as well when I do this.

Like I said, it works for the popular ones like AUDUSD, but when I add the less popular pairs my charts are blank and my output window will print multiple times "IndexOutOfRangeException". So my guess is I'm making a mistake when I add a pair.

Could someone please give me a step by step on how to do this? Please?

          Thank you.

            Hello imalil,

I recommend checking the symbol map settings which you are using for these instruments against the symbol which Kinetick lists in their symbol look up to ensure that your symbol settings are correct.

Kinetick's Symbol Look Up utility is available here: https://www.kinetick.com/support#Symbol-Search

You may add an instrument in NinjaTrader 8 that is not included in the pre-loaded lists by follow these steps:

Navigate to the Control Center > Tools > Instruments window.
Left-click on the ‘add’ button that appears near the lower right-hand corner of the Instruments window.
Enter instrument-specific symbol mapping, exchanges, and other information on the Instrument editor that appears. This information will largely depend on your broker or datafeed provider’s specific settings regarding the instrument in question.
Left-click the OK button once each field has been filled out with correct information.
The new instrument has now been created in your database. Should you wish to add this instrument to an instrument list:

Navigate to the Control Center > Tools > Instruments Lists window.
Left-click to select the instrument list that you wish to add this instrument to in the left panel, then left-click on the ‘add’ button at the bottom of the right-hand panel.
Type the name and (if applicable) front month of your instrument in the search field that appears. Press the Enter button on your keyboard to confirm this change.
Left-click the OK button to close the Instrument Lists window.
Your new instrument is now added to the instrument list of your choice.

If you are still unable to load an instrument please post exactly what instruments you are unable to view along with the symbol mapping you have applied.

              Hello-

Looking up currency pairs on Kinetick returns no results when I use 'symbol search'. So what I tried to do, which apparently doesn't work, is add pairs and copy the mapping of pairs that DO work. So the mapping of AUDUSD (and every pair that works) under Kinetick is AUDUSD.FXCM. So for, say, BRLUSD I put BRLUSD.FXCM under Kinetick. This does not seem to work.

How do I go about adding, say, BRLUSD and BTCUSD to use Kinetick end of day? If you tell me how to do these I can do the rest.

              Thank you.

                Hello imalil,

                Thanks for posting.

Bitcoin markets are not currently supported by any of NinjaTraders supported providers.

The BLRUSD symbol mapping for Kinetick is 'BRLUSD.COMP'.

Let us know if any other questions come up.

Thanks. How did you find BRLUSD.COMP on https://kinetick.com/Help#!Help_SymbolSearch?

I have many other symbols I want to look at.

                  Thanks.

                    Hello imalil,

I contacted the Kinetick team to confirm the symbol mapping as the symbol search on their website was not working for me as well.

Kinetick told me all my pairs end in .COMP. When I type this into what I think is the proper place, I still get blank charts. AUDUSD and the other built-ins work fine.

I must be making a mistake. Could someone give me as much detail as possible as to how and where to input paths of currency pairs? Step by step?

                      Thank you.

                        Hello imalil,

                        Thank you for posting.

The .COMP is referring to the symbol mapping for the BRLUSD.

You may update symbol mapping within the NinjaTrader 8 Control Center >Tools >Instruments.

From this Window search for the existing BRLUSD >Edit .

In the Properties menu scroll to the bottom of the window >Symbol Map.

Next to Kinetick >update the Symbol mapping to 'BRLUSD.COMP' > then click >Apply >OK.

I have also included the Editing Instruments section of the NT8 help guide for further information: http://ninjatrader.com/support/helpG...nstruments.htm
