Charts not loading issue - test case

Here's a reproducible test case for the issue where charts have not crashed, or frozen, but are are stuck on "loading".

Steps to reproduce:

- open a clean chart for any instrument,
- add the ChartLoadingBug indicator (attached)
- open a second chart window for the same instrument as the previous one.

Observe that the second window although not frozen, is stuck on "loading" - as are all subsequent charts which are opened for that instrument henceforth.

I wasn't able to see quite the same thing on my end but I believe the related behavior I saw is worth reporting. When I tried to create a chart with a different instrument, and closed the data selection window, a new chart was never created.

I have submitted a feature request to the product management team for the following feature, which should address the behaviors each of us observed.

This user would like each chart to occupy its own thread, so that user indicators in one chart are completely unable to affect other charts

I am treating this like a feature request because there is currently no specified behavior. For reference, our threading documentation is here.

I thought chart windows were already multi-threaded? I'm sure of it because they show up in the task Manager on Windows 10 individually if you expand the Ninjatrader 8 tree you can see individual charts threads and kill them!

Thanks for this additional information. While charts windows are, chart indicators must be sharing some memory for the things you and I have observed to be possible. If this is not the case, the development team will have more information along these lines, and they will decide on the appropriate action. Whether this will involve creating new functionality in Ninja, or repairing existing functionality, the same considerations will be made as far as user experience impact being weighed against platform stability. Should we decide to keep Ninja's current behavior, we will document this behavior so users know exactly what to expect, and suggest work-arounds if possible.
