NT 8 Instrument Lists - Location

Hello Support,

Where does NT 8 store its Instrument Lists? I sometimes transfer Templates and Workspaces to my testing computer. I want to be able to copy and transfer Instrument Lists that I created. Is this possible?

The instrument lists are stored in your database file.

This file can be copied to a new PC and is located in (My) Documents > NinjaTrader 8 > db...

Inside this folder you will find a file labeled NinjaTrader.sdf this is your database file where the instrument lists are stored.

I am attempting to do the same thing as TraderYoda.

Unfortunately, there is no "NinjaTrader.sdf" database file in the location specified. Attempts to find an *.sdf file anywhere in the PC come up empty also.

Could someone update this thread with the correct file type and location for the file.

Thank you for informing us.

In the latest versions of NT8 there is no longer an ".sdf" file.


This file can be copied to a new PC and is located in (My) Documents > NinjaTrader 8 > db...

Inside this folder you will find a file labeled NinjaTrader.sqlite this is your database file where the instrument lists are stored.
