    Can't run strategy

    I'm playing around with Ninjatrader 8 and can't run the built in strategies on my historical data. I load my historical data into a chart, add a strategy (e.g. "Sample MA crossover"), and then the strategy is listed in the Strategies Tab. Everything looks fine at this point. But then when I try to click the "enabled" checkbox in the Strategies Tab, it doesn't let me.

    No errors show up in my Log Tab. It used to work fine in Ninjatrader 7 for me.

In your message please include a link to this forum thread and a copy of today's trace files. You will find these diagnostic file in the Documents > NinjaTrader 8 > Trace folder. I will need to review a copy of the files which are named 'trace.20170405.XXXXX.txt'. There will likely be multiple files for each day.

      Was this issue ever resolved? I am having the same problem in NT 8 rev, 8.1.3.1.

        If you are unable to enable the strategy in the Strategies tab, there are a few possible causes to investigate and steps to resolve:

        1. Check Account Connection:
        • Ensure that the strategy is set to use the correct account. If you are in simulation mode, verify that the Sim101 account or your intended simulation account is selected in the strategy settings.
        • If you are using live data, ensure your account is connected and active.
        2. Error in Strategy Settings:
        • Right-click the strategy in the Strategies tab and choose Edit Strategy.
        • Ensure all mandatory fields are filled out, especially any custom parameters required by the strategy.
        • Check the "Start Behavior" settings. Set it to "Wait until flat" if you’re working with historical data, as mismatched positions can prevent the strategy from enabling.
        3. Historical Data Availability:
        • Ensure that the historical data for the selected instrument and time frame is fully loaded.
        • Reload the data by right-clicking on the chart and selecting Reload All Historical Data.
        4. Log and Trace Files:
        • Open the Log tab in the Control Center and check for any error messages or warnings related to enabling the strategy.
        • Common issues include:
          • Insufficient historical data for the strategy's calculations.
          • Mismatched instrument settings.
          • Errors in the custom NinjaScript logic.
        5. Compile Issues:
        • If you are using a custom strategy, check for compile errors:
          • Go to Control Center > New > NinjaScript Editor.
          • Right-click the editor background and select Compile.
          • Look for any errors highlighted in orange. Address these errors before enabling the strategy.
