    Strategy duplicated Indicators

I was running a strategy overnight on multiple instruments and when I got up this AM and turned on my monitor I saw that nearly all of the instruments had duplicated indicators (BOP and Double Stochastics). No other indicators were duplicated and when I turned off the strategy for each individual instrument, the duplication disappeared. Here are a couple of screen shots.

    Any thoughts?

    Hello Dolfan,

    Thank you for your post.

Does the strategy add the same indicators to the chart that are already on the chart? If you re-enable the strategy do the indicators duplicate again?

Please send me your log and trace files so that I may look into what occurred. You can do this by going to the Control Center-> Help-> Email Support. Please list 'ATTN: Patrick H' in the subject line and reference this thread in the body of the email.

I look forward to your response.

I misspoke myself when I said "nearly all". It is only the 2 indicators, BOP and Double Stochastics. I restarted Ninja8 and enabled the strategies again an yes, once again the same indicators that I used are indeed duplicated again.

Attempting to send log and trace files now, let me know if you receive them.

Any progress on that issue with MAE/MFE/ETD? (same strategy) I am considering using currency instead of ticks, then dividing the cash per position by the value per tick to get what I hope is a more accurate indication of expected movement. I don't know if it matters for your analysis but I am using Renko bars in that strategy.

      Best regards,

      Dolfan

Did you receive the log and trace files? Ninja gave me error after some time (same has in the past) but in the past it has eventually landed. I never know until I am told one way or another. I uninstalled Ninja8, then reinstalled and I get the same error, duplicate BOP and Double Stochastics indicators on my charts.

          Hello Dolfan,

          Thank you for your update.

We have not received your log and trace files. Please follow the steps below to manually attach your log and trace files to your response so I may investigate this matter further.
          • Open your NinjaTrader folder under Documents.
          • Right click on the 'log' and 'trace' folders and select Send To> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
          • Send the 2 compressed folders as attachments to this email.
          • Once complete, you can delete these compressed folders.

I am not familiar with the item on the MAE/MFE/ETD, can you provide further details?

I look forward to your response.

I'll send these ZIP files via email since we have corresponded in the past.

With regards to MAE/MFE/ETD, I have you confused with PartickG who was looking into this. Please see the post as linked below. Thanks!

            Best regards,

              Hello Dolfan,

Thank you for sending over the log and trace files.

I do not see any items in the log or trace to indicate any issues (such as errors or exceptions). To clarify, when the strategy is not on the chart or when it is not enabled you still see those indicators? Meaning they are on the chart when the strategy is not, correct?

I look forward to your response.

The indicators are there on the chart singularly. When the strategy is enabled, the 2 indicators are duplicated.

                  Hello Dolfan,

                  Thank you for your response.

The strategy will add indicators to the chart if it's code is using AddChartIndicator(). Are you using AddChartIndicator()? If so, either remove the indicators from the chart and then enable the strategy or remove the code for AddChartIndicator() in your Strategy.

For information on AddChartIndicator() please visit the following link: http://ninjatrader.com/support/helpG...tindicator.htm

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Well heck's bells, that's a new one on me. Look at this https://www.screencast.com/t/kgDsqAF2E and tell me if this is why this is happening? If so, does that mean that I could load a chart clean and when I run a strategy on it, the strategy will load the indicators. When the strategy is disabled, the indicators will disappear? What about if I have a time based chart open but my strategy is based on RenkoBars(?), how will that display? Thanks!

                    Best regards,

                    Dolfan

                      Hello Dolfan,

                      Thank you for your response.

That is correct, the Plot On Chart option will add the chart indicator line to the code.

If you run a clean chart and enable the strategy with that option enabled on an indicator then it will add those indicator and when you remove the strategy the indicators will be removed.

If you have a time based chart but use Renko Bars as the input in code for the strategy, the AddChartIndicator() will add the indicator to the chart and therefore the time based input.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Interesting, I have not switched between time based and bar based charts. I will have to experiment with this.
